Olivia Rodrigo's "Expectations" gets the 7-inch treatment on blue vinyl, pairing the version featuring Chappell Roan on one side with the original album cut on the other.

The song first appeared in 2026 as the penultimate track on you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, her third album, made once again with longtime producer Dan Nigro. Months later she reworked it with Roan, who adds a verse of her own, and the pairing felt overdue. Nigro also produced Roan's breakout record, and Roan had opened shows for Rodrigo on tour, so the duet plays like a reunion between two of the decade's defining pop voices, both of whom built their names on unguarded, fiercely specific songwriting.

On the A-side, "Expectations (feat. Chappell Roan)" turns a solo confession into a conversation, with Roan's theatrical flair set against Rodrigo's diaristic directness. Flip it over and "Expectations" returns to the version fans first heard on the album, leaner and more private. Hearing the two back to back is the whole point, a neat lesson in how a second voice can change the weight of a song.

It is a small, collectible slice of a big pop moment, built for the turntable rather than the playlist. It fills an obvious gap on any shelf of Rodrigo singles.
