Motion City Soundtrack's My Dinosaur Life lands on 180-gram black vinyl as a Holland import, capturing the Minneapolis pop punk band at their sharpest and most anxious.

Released in 2010 on Columbia, the album reunited Justin Pierre and company with Mark Hoppus of blink-182, who had also produced Commit This to Memory and returned to the producer's chair here. Pierre's lyrics turn self-doubt and growing pains into nervy, endlessly quotable hooks, while Jesse Johnson's Moog synths and the band's crunchy guitars sound bigger and bolder than ever, pushing the record toward a heavier, more urgent edge than its predecessors.

Worker Bee opens at a full sprint, and Disappear hits with a heavier, more aggressive punch than the band had attempted before. Her Words Destroyed My Planet is a wiry, lovesick blast of synth and nerves, while A Lifeless Ordinary (Need a Little Help) turns a plea for support into a fist-pumping singalong. Disappear, Her Words Destroyed My Planet and A Lifeless Ordinary all became singles, and they show how effortlessly the band could fold big emotions into three-minute bursts of energy.
