JAY-Z's "Empire State of Mind" gets the OG Edition treatment here, a four-track vinyl single built around his 2009 anthem with Alicia Keys.

Taken from The Blueprint 3, the song became an unofficial soundtrack to New York almost overnight, with Keys' huge, piano-led hook turning a victory lap into a love letter to the city. Producer Al Shux built the track on a classic soul sample, giving JAY plenty of room to run through the city's history and his own, from Brooklyn street corners to courtside seats.

The rest of the record digs into the catalogue. "Heart of the City" pairs JAY with an early Kanye West production built on a weeping blues sample, a highlight of The Blueprint, while "Jockin' Jay-Z" finds the pair reuniting for a tougher, more swaggering cut. The late-90s track "Murdergram" rounds things out with a harder, grittier edge from his early Roc-A-Fella years, a reminder of how hungry he sounded before the stadium anthems arrived.

For collectors, it is a tidy way to own one of the biggest hip-hop records of its era on wax, with three deeper cuts that trace his evolution from the late 90s to the end of the 2000s, all on a single disc.
