Phish hand an entire record to a single jam on LP on LP 07, a 44-minute "Tweezer" from Bozeman, Montana in 1994 that fills both sides.

The LP on LP series, short for Live Phish on Long Play, picks out one standout improvisation at a time and gives it the full vinyl treatment. This upcoming volume reaches back to the band's 1990s prime, capturing their only show at the Field House on the Montana State campus, a night when Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Jon Fishman and Page McConnell took one of their most dependable jam vehicles and drove it somewhere new.

It starts with that familiar slinky, stop-start funk riff and the playful vocal back-and-forth, then gradually comes untethered. Over three quarters of an hour the music shifts shape again and again as the four players chase ideas, double back and follow each other down unexpected paths, with Gordon's elastic bass and McConnell's keys steering each new turn.

Splitting one performance across both sides turns the flip itself into a moment of suspense, a brief pause before the band dives back in.
