Dire Straits signed off in style with On Every Street, their 1991 final studio album, revisited here as a limited 35th Anniversary Edition 2LP UK import with half-speed mastering.

Arriving six years after Brothers in Arms had made them one of the biggest bands on the planet, the album faced enormous expectations. Mark Knopfler answered with a looser, more reflective record that leans into country and blues shades and the kind of storytelling he would carry into his solo career.

Calling Elvis, the lead single, rides a rolling, hypnotic groove and Knopfler's dry wit, while Heavy Fuel kicks up some of the grittiest riffs the band ever recorded. The title track builds slowly into one of his most atmospheric guitar showcases, and The Bug, a jaunty, twangy shuffle, shows the lighter side of his songwriting. Throughout, Knopfler's fingerpicked guitar tone is as distinctive as ever.

Half-speed mastering suits a recording this detailed, where space and dynamics matter as much as the notes themselves, and spreading the album across two LPs gives each side plenty of room to breathe.
