Bon Iver's SABLE, fABLE arrives as a double LP, with the hushed SABLE songs and the sun-warmed fABLE material each given a disc of their own.

Released in 2025, it was the first full-length from Justin Vernon's project in nearly six years, following i,i in 2019. SABLE first surfaced as a short EP in 2024, a sparse, folk-leaning reckoning that seemed to close a chapter. fABLE opens the next one, and the shift is striking: Vernon sounds lighter, more direct and openly in love.

The SABLE disc stays close to the bone. "Things Behind Things Behind Things" and "Speyside" are acoustic and wounded, the kind of songs that make a quiet room feel quieter still. Then fABLE turns toward contemporary R&B, soul and glossy pop. "Everything Is Peaceful Love" glows like a late-afternoon drive, "Day One" brings in Dijon and Flock of Dimes, and "If Only I Could Wait" sets Vernon's voice against Danielle Haim's in a tender, slow-burning duet.

Vernon produced the album with Jim-E Stack, recording mostly at his April Base studio in Wisconsin, and the warmth of that room seems to seep into every layer.

It is a record about coming out the other side, from an artist who sounds happier than he has in years.
