Ten years on from the scrappy beginnings of Amyl and The Sniffers, this anniversary edition pairs the Melbourne band's first two EPs, Giddy Up and Big Attraction, on a single LP.

Before the festival stages and the international headlines, Amy Taylor and her housemates were a pub-punk gang out of Balaclava with more energy than equipment. Giddy Up was famously written, recorded and released in about 12 hours in 2016, and Big Attraction followed in 2017, sharpening the attack without sanding off any of the mess. Together they capture a band discovering exactly how loud and how funny it could be.

The songs are short, sweaty and gleefully unpolished. I'm Not a Loser barrels in with Taylor's bratty bark riding a riff that sounds lifted straight from a sticky Saturday night, while Stole My Pushbike turns petty suburban crime into a sing-along. Westgate and Balaclava Lover Boogie stomp along on pub-rock swagger, guitars buzzing like a faulty fluorescent light and drums hit with no regard for the neighbours.

Heard now, these recordings are the blueprint for everything that followed: the Oz rock muscle, the punk spit and the wicked sense of humour that made the band one of Australia's most exciting exports.

For fans who came in later, this is where the story starts, raw and loud.
