Nightwish mark three decades with The Greatest 30 Years On Earth, a box set pairing four LPs of live and session recordings with a Blu-ray.

Formed in Kitee, Finland, in 1996, the band turned symphonic metal into a stadium-sized spectacle of choirs, keyboards and cinematic storytelling. This set captures the Floor Jansen era at full power, and with the band announcing her departure after fourteen years in 2026, it now doubles as a fond farewell to that chapter.

The first two LPs document the 2022 and 2023 tour, from Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome to a homecoming show in their hometown of Kitee. "Ghost Love Score" remains the towering centrepiece, all choirs, orchestral swell and Jansen's jaw-dropping range, while "Sleeping Sun" still raises goosebumps decades after it was written.

LPs three and four revisit the 2021 virtual Islanders Arms shows, remixed and remastered, with fan favourites such as "Planet Hell" and "She Is My Sin" in a more intimate session setting. The Blu-ray adds the concert film and a documentary on keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen's songwriting.

For a band built on wonder and scale, it is a fitting monument to thirty years of grand ambition, and a generous one, with enough here to fill a long winter evening twice over.
