Forty years on, Motörhead's most menacing album gets the deluxe treatment, with Orgasmatron (40th Anniversary Edition) spread across three LPs of remaster, remix and studio rarities.

Released in 1986, Orgasmatron was the first full studio album from the four-piece line-up of Lemmy, Phil Campbell, Würzel and drummer Pete Gill, with Bill Laswell in the producer's chair. Pairing a New York avant-garde producer with the loudest band in Britain made for a darker, denser record, though Lemmy and Campbell always felt some of its bite was lost in the final mix.

The songs never needed rescuing. "Deaf Forever" opens with a war-drum stomp, "Built for Speed" barrels down the highway, foot to the floor, and the title track closes the album as a slow, crushing sermon, with Lemmy casting religion, politics and war as one devouring beast.

The first LP presents a fresh 2026 remaster of the original mix. The second hands the stems to Cameron Webb, producer of six Motörhead studio albums, for a new remix that aims to reveal more of what was always inside. The third gathers 1985 rehearsals and outtakes, an alternate take of "Claw" and a 1986 BBC Radio 1 Friday Rock Show session.

Anyone who has argued about that mix for four decades can finally hear both sides on one turntable.
