Living Being IV: Time Reflections is Vincent Peirani's fourth chapter with the quintet that lets his accordion sound like a jazz combo, a chamber ensemble and a sigh at once.

The French accordionist is joined here by Emile Parisien on soprano saxophone, Julien Herne on bass, Tony Paeleman on keys and Yoann Serra on drums, a line-up that has had time to learn exactly how far it can stretch. Released in 2025 on ACT, the album takes time itself as its subject, with a central three-part suite of Clessidra, Better Days and Inner Pulse tracing time's flow, suspension and inner rhythm.

Clessidra, Italian for hourglass, runs past eight minutes with sand-slow patience, while Inner Pulse stretches even further, closing in on ten. Bremain Suite folds three well-loved songs into a single reimagining that shows how familiar melodies can be rewired without losing their hearts.

Peirani has built a reputation for making the accordion feel limitless, and this record keeps pushing that idea. Nine tracks, each given room to breathe, with Parisien's soprano sax weaving around his lines like smoke. It is jazz for listeners who like their melodies memorable and their structures a little unpredictable, best played start to finish on a quiet evening.
