Krismasi: Christmas Songs From Africa 1968-1982 trades snowmen for sunshine, gathering festive gems from across the continent on red and white vinyl.

Released by Strut in 2026, the compilation shines a light on rare African Christmas recordings from Nigeria and Ghana to South Africa, Zimbabwe, the Congo and East Africa. Many of these sides have been hard to find for decades, so hearing them gathered together feels like opening a box of treasures nobody knew was in the attic, each one a small celebration.

Martha Ulaeto's "Keresimesi Odun De (Christmas Has Come)" sets the tone with pure joy, Flash Domincii reimagines "Mary's Boy Child" as highlife in "Amodekunrin Ti Maria", and Zimbabwe's Paul Matavire captures the build-up to the big day on "Christmas Yaswedera". Oscar Sulley's "X'mas Hustle" turns festive hymns into a funky medley that's impossible to sit through quietly.

Elsewhere there's highlife praise music, township jazz, gospel, acoustic reveries and spontaneous jams, all carefully restored and mastered so the grooves sparkle, with each artist bringing their own local flavour to the festivities.
