From Dust to Darkness is Sparzanza doing what nearly thirty years in Swedish heavy rock has taught them, arriving on red vinyl with no interest in reinvention and none required.

The band formed in Karlstad in 1996 and has spent the decades since occupying a very specific and very satisfying space, somewhere between stoner rock's low tuned crawl, heavy metal's muscle, and hard rock's insistence on an actual chorus. They have never been a band chasing a scene, which is why their records age better than most, and this 2025 album lands with the confidence of a group that knows precisely what it sounds like. Eight tracks, no interludes, no experiments that don't earn their place.

Fear the Night sets the tone with a riff that plods deliberately before opening up, the kind of build Sparzanza have always done better than their peers. The Accuser is the meanest thing here, all bile and forward momentum, while Twitch of the Death Nerve stretches into genuine doom territory. The Blinding Absence of a Light slows things almost to a standstill before The Great Noise closes the record exactly as loudly as the title promises.
