The Iron Expansion Pack is two songs Post Animal left on the cutting room floor, now rescued onto a silver 7-inch for the people who wanted more of that reunion.

Iron was already a good story before the bonus tracks. The 2025 album marked the first time all six original members had been in a studio together in nearly a decade, Joe Keery included, who left in 2017 when Stranger Things and then his Djo project pulled him elsewhere. They gave themselves thirty straight days in a room together, wrote and played everything collectively, and came out with a record that sounds less like a comeback than a friendship resuming mid sentence. Then they spent the year opening sold out shows for Djo, which is either poetic or extremely convenient depending on how you look at it.

Leave Overjoyed and Something Drive both came out of those original Iron sessions, and neither sounds like filler that missed the cut. The band's whole trick has always been layering psych rock sprawl over hooks sturdy enough to survive it, and both tracks lean into the shaggier, more exploratory end of that, which is probably why they didn't quite fit the album's shape.
