NITE come from a long and storied line of heavy metal.
The Bay Area gave birth to thrash titans like Metallica, and while it’s not what most metalheads imagine when they go to their happy place, Northern California’s sunny climate did inspire Death to cross over into death metal.
These San Franciscans carry that torch with pride. All five members have played in other bands that span from coast to coast, but they came together around Northern California in 2018. It didn’t take long before NITE were making their presence known, either. Their debut album appeals to old metalheads and newcomers alike.
Just listen to “Genesis”, which opens ‘Darkness Silence Mirror Flame’ with duel leads that slash with the bright, arena-rocking melodies of NWOBHM. But NITE aren’t interested in resurrecting past glories. Van Labrakis’ sinister snarl gives those tasty, old-time riffs a nice, blackened char.
