Step into the vibrantly charged world of Max Romeo & The Upsetters' War Ina Babylon, a cornerstone of reggae that pulses with an unrelenting social heartbeat.

Reissued with pride by Jackpot Records, this 1976 classic was a seismic force on the UK punk scene, reflecting an urgent era in Jamaica through the alchemical partnership of Max Romeo and legendary producer Lee "Scratch" Perry. At this critical juncture, Romeo was transitioning from "rude" tracks to powerful protest anthems, armed with over 120 singles under his belt. This album, recorded in a mere two weeks, showcases Perry's kitchen sink production-a hallmark of his acclaimed Black Ark Trilogy, alongside Police and Thieves and Party Time.

War Ina Babylon paints a vivid soundscape where reggae rhythms meet searing social commentary. From the title track's invocation of turbulent streets to the introspective depths of One Step Forward, Max Romeo's voice echoes with truth and resilience. Perry's experimental genius transforms each song into an atmospheric tapestry, ensuring that the record’s power is more raw and resonant than ever.

Presented on a striking orange vinyl, War Ina Babylon is not just an album-it's a historical document and a reggae masterpiece. This is a vital addition to any serious collection, speaking timelessly to themes that remain relevant across generations.
