Pressed on vibrant yellow vinyl, this is the band’s fifth full-length and their second for Sub Pop, and it's a genre-colliding love letter to artistic freedom, outsider identity, and, yes… “punk lunch.”
Produced by Stephen Malkmus (of Pavement fame) and recorded at Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio’s legendary Vermont studio The Barn, the album is a gloriously offbeat blend of experimental dance punk, psychedelic art rock, and pure DIY spirit. Lead vocalist Kassie Carlson brings her signature mix of sass and sincerity, delivering lines that feel like party invitations one minute and personal manifestos the next.
Highlights include the glittery, stomping anthem “Little Moncler,” the wildly catchy “Purple Christmas,” and “Red Flag to Angry Bull,” where Carlson and Malkmus duet over one of the most delightfully Phish-y solos Anastasio has ever laid down outside his own band. It’s weird, wonderful, and wildly inclusive – the kind of record that invites slackers, jam kids, punks, and weirdos alike to come hang.
