Seeds, Roots & Fruits is the debut full-length from Polish beat-maker Emapea, sixteen tracks of dusty hip hop, acid jazz and trip hop on transparent dark green vinyl.

Emapea built a following through Cold Busted compilations such as the IWYMI and Bust Free series, and was picked for one of Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz mixes, so anticipation for a full album was high. Released in 2016, it answers with a set that moves between head-nodding hip hop beats, jazzy grooves and psychedelic haze in the spirit of Mo'Wax, showing a young producer with depth beyond the usual beat tape.

Strange Seed hints at the album's psychedelic side, Yugen drifts into something more reflective, Smooth Walk keeps a loose, easy stride, and Milky Haze, the longest cut, lets the mood linger.

Nearly every track stays under four minutes, so the album moves quickly without ever feeling rushed, a sequence built for headphones, long drives and slow Sunday mornings. It is instrumental hip hop with a crate-digger's ear and a producer's patience, the kind of record that rewards repeat listens as new layers surface.
