Strange Hours finds Eli Young Band back home in Denton, Texas, trading polish for the raw, grassroots energy that first put them on the map.
The 2025 album follows 2022's Love Talking and returns to the Denton studio where the band's hit album Level was born, with frontman Mike Eli and guitarist James Young leading a fresh batch of co-written songs. Back on their own independent footing, they aimed for music geared for the stage and recorded without digital tricks, chasing the emotional sting of their early work.
Whiskey Told Ya, featuring Corey Kent, wraps regret in a catchy hook, I'm Yours Amen is the sweet, heartfelt ballad about finding the one you love, Strange Hours sets a late-night mood, and Pretty Good Day for the Bar closes the album with a knowing wink.
Thirteen songs of Texas country that sound like they were made to be played loud in a room full of friends, with plenty of heart, a few good stories and nothing overly polished. Longtime fans will recognise the band they fell for, and anyone who likes country with grit and sincerity will find plenty to enjoy. Put it on with the windows down and let the strange hours begin.
