Originally recorded in 1971 by U.S. Army servicemen stationed in Germany, this ultra-rare album was part of a military-sponsored initiative—and it just so happens to be one of the deepest cuts in vintage soul-funk history. Now reissued and lovingly pressed on vinyl, it’s finally getting the wider audience it’s always deserved.
Blending gritty funk, tender soul, and politically conscious vibes, East of Underground covers iconic tracks with raw passion and a tightness that rivals the originals.
