Morning After is the second album from Toronto duo dvsn, thirteen tracks of slow-burning, after-hours R&B released through Drake's OVO Sound imprint, now spread across pink and blue 2LP.

Daniel Daley's voice and Nineteen85's production have always worked as a single instrument rather than a typical singer-producer pairing, and this 2017 record leans further into that intimacy than their debut did, most of it shaped by Nineteen85 himself with 40 lending his signature muted, late-night atmosphere to a handful of tracks. It's a record built for the hours the title implies, unhurried and confident enough to let songs breathe rather than chase an obvious single.

Think About Me carries genuine ache beneath its restraint, Daley's falsetto doing the emotional work without ever raising its voice. Mood settles into a slower, more hypnotic groove, one of the record's clearest showcases of Nineteen85's production instincts. Morning After, the title track, sits at the album's emotional centre, and Conversations in a Diner closes things on something more narrative and specific than the rest of the record's atmosphere-first approach.

A duo who understood exactly how much space a song needs before it starts feeling overworked. Morning After remains the record where that instinct paid off most completely.
