Chicago’s Greatest Hits 1982-1989 captures the band’s chart-topping era of the 1980s, now available on limited vinyl LP. Originally released on November 21, 1989, via Full Moon/Reprise Records, this collection serves as the group’s third official greatest hits album and their twentieth overall release. Spanning material from Chicago 16 (1982) through Chicago 19 (1988), the album highlights the band’s transition between frontmen, featuring the smooth vocals of both Peter Cetera and his successor Jason Scheff.
Packed with radio staples and arena-ready ballads, the set includes fan favorites like “Hard to Say I’m Sorry,” “You’re the Inspiration,” “Stay the Night,” and the hit single “What Kind of Man Would I Be?”—presented here in a slightly remixed version. Notably, this was also Chicago’s final release before the departure of founding drummer Danny Seraphine, marking the end of an era for the band.
