Bill Evans’ Moon Beams glows anew in this pristine reissue from the Original Jazz Classics Series. First released in 1962, this album marked Evans' return to recording following the untimely death of bassist Scott LaFaro—and the result is an emotionally rich, introspective masterpiece.
Featuring the reformed Bill Evans Trio with Chuck Israels on bass and Paul Motian on drums, Moon Beams delivers delicate yet deeply expressive interpretations. Highlights include the luminous “Re: Person I Knew,” the haunting beauty of “Polka Dots and Moonbeams,” and the tender ballad “It Might As Well Be Spring.”
Remastered from the original analog tapes and pressed with audiophile care, this edition brings out every nuance of Evans' lyrical touch. Jazz doesn’t get more intimate—or more essential—than this.
