The Wonder Years strip things back once more on Burst & Decay (Volume III), the third chapter of their reimagining series, arriving on blue vinyl.

For two decades the Philadelphia-area band has been one of pop punk's most literate voices, with Dan Campbell writing about anxiety, family and growing up with unusual honesty. The Burst & Decay records give that catalogue a second life, recasting songs from across their career in quieter, more intimate arrangements that put the lyrics front and centre.

Volume III brings friends along for the ride. Joe Taylor of Knuckle Puck joins on Came Out Swinging, Zayna Youssef of Sweet Pill lends her voice to Oldest Daughter, and Ryland Heagy of Origami Angel appears on I Don't Like Who I Was Then. Elsewhere, Wyatt's Song (Your Name) and its short interlude form the tender centrepiece of the set, and the record closes on a gentle, quietly hopeful note that lingers.

The result is warm and cathartic, a reminder that these songs hold up just as well with the volume turned down and the room gone quiet. For longtime fans, this blue pressing is a lovely companion to the first two volumes, and a chance to hear old favourites through older, wiser ears.
