Sudden Impact Vinyl
Sudden Impact is exactly what the title promises - a sharp, no-frills blast of traditional heavy metal from RAM at their hungriest and most unpolished.
Originally released in 2003, this six-track debut mini-album marked the Gothenburg band’s opening strike during the early stirrings of the Scandinavian metal revival. Alongside peers like Portrait and In Solitude, RAM carved out a sound rooted in classic heavy metal but injected with youthful ferocity. Long before later albums like Lightbringer or Death refined their attack, Sudden Impact thrived on raw instinct and unapologetic intensity.
Tracks like Judgement And Punishment and Machine Invaders surge with galloping riffs and soaring, clean vocals, echoing the spirit of Judas Priest while keeping things lean and aggressive. Blessed To Be Cursed and Infuriator double down on that energy, delivering tight, riff-driven assaults that feel equal parts homage and declaration. Even the title track and closer Black Path carry a scrappy urgency that underscores the band’s early conviction.
This 2024 reissue, limited to 300 copies and housed in a heavyweight 425gsm sleeve with insert, restores a long out-of-print gem to the spotlight. For collectors and die-hard metal purists, it’s a vital snapshot of a band on the cusp - loud, proud, and already impossible to ignore.
