Summer Walker's Last Day of Summer introduced one of R&B's most candid voices in 2018, and this five-year anniversary edition brings it back on blue vinyl.

The Atlanta singer's debut mixtape arrived through LVRN and Interscope, its songs about heartbreak, desire and self-doubt delivered in an unguarded, conversational style that felt startlingly direct. Produced largely by Arsenio Archer, with contributions from Gambi and Tim Maxey, it laid the groundwork for the run of success that followed and made her a fixture of late-night playlists.

The sound is hushed and spacious, with sparse beats, warm bass and plenty of room for her voice to drift and confess. "Girls Need Love" became the breakout, a frank, slow-rolling plea for intimacy that caught fire online and set the tone for everything after. "CPR" and "Karma" dig further into the push and pull of modern romance, and "Deep" keeps the mood low and close.

It's a short, intimate listen that rewards repeat plays, the kind of record you put on when the lights are low and the phone is face down. Five years on, it still sounds like the arrival of a voice that refused to sand down its edges, and it sits comfortably alongside the albums that came after.
