Stevie Ray Vaughan's Couldn't Stand the Weather is on its way back as a limited expanded double LP, pressed on 180-gram yellow and red vinyl as a Dutch import.

Released in 1984, his second album with Double Trouble arrived hot on the heels of Texas Flood and proved the Texan guitarist was no one-album wonder. Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton lock into a rhythm section as tight as a fist, giving Vaughan room to roam from jump blues to slow-burning ballads and full-bore rock, often within the same side.

The title track "Couldn't Stand The Weather" rides a stuttering, funky groove that sounds like a storm rolling across the plains, and "Cold Shot" slinks along with sly, swaggering cool. His cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" is the moment jaws hit the floor, a fearless tribute played with total conviction, while the slow blues numbers show how much feeling he could wring from a single bent note.

The expanded edition adds a second record of extra tracks and alternate material, with his instrumental reading of "Little Wing" a highlight.

It is a cornerstone of the 1980s blues revival, and this edition gives the music, and the guitar tone that defined it, plenty of room to breathe across four sides.
