Esther Kretzinger - Sound of a Poem is a delicate, genre-blending album where classical meets jazz in an elegant embrace. The German soprano, known for her classical and operatic work, takes Romantic and Impressionist songs by Claude Debussy, Joseph Marx, Othmar Schoeck and Gerald Endstrasser and reinterprets them with a small international jazz ensemble including violin, vibraphone, bass and drums.

She selects pieces like Waldseligkeit, Selige Nacht, Green and Il pleure dans mon cœur, infusing them with light jazz arrangements that preserve the poetic core while allowing space for improvisation and instrumental conversation. There’s a magic in how the voice floats over soft vibraphone lines and subtle violin accompaniment, giving the impression that history is being gently refreshed.

The album includes a bonus track titled Wordless which strips away text and lets the instruments speak instead, offering a quiet counterpoint to the human voice in the rest of the tracklist. The total length is around forty-one minutes, making this LP a perfect listen for late nights or thoughtful afternoons.
