I Am Not a Doctor is Moloko's second album, the one that eventually turned Sing It Back into a genuine dancefloor phenomenon, pressed here as a numbered edition of 2000 on translucent blue vinyl.

Róisín Murphy and Mark Brydon met at a Sheffield party in 1994 when she opened with a chat-up line so memorable it became their debut album's title, and by this 1998 follow-up the pair had turned that origin story into a genuinely inventive electronic partnership, her voice sliding between playful and genuinely strange over his warped, jazz-inflected production. The album itself didn't make much noise on release. It took a Boris Dlugosch remix and a slow build through club culture before Sing It Back returned to the charts a year later and became inescapable, one of those rare cases where a song's second life eclipses its first entirely.

Sing It Back, in its original album version, sounds looser and more melancholy than the house remix everyone remembers, worth hearing on its own terms. Blink carries the record's most unsettling atmosphere, Murphy's voice pushed somewhere closer to unease than seduction. Pretty Bridges lets the duo's jazz leanings surface directly, and Caught in a Whisper closes the album on something genuinely tender.

Recorded in their own Sheffield studio by two people who met on a whim and built an entire sound out of it. The blue vinyl suits a record this slippery.
