Green Day's van-touring youth gets the big-screen comedy treatment in Nimrods, and the original soundtrack spreads all 30 of its tracks across two 140-gram LPs.

Directed by Lee Kirk and developed with the band, the 2026 film follows three friends who drive to Los Angeles convinced their group is opening for Green Day on New Year's Eve. The premise is loosely drawn from the band's own early years on the road, and the cast includes Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace, Jenna Fischer and Fred Armisen.

The soundtrack doubles as a career sweep, with 22 Green Day songs running from Longview and Basket Case through to the Saviors era. Fans also get fresh material: the soundtrack-exclusive single I'm Never Gonna R.I.P., plus four previously unreleased live recordings from the Palladium in Los Angeles, among them Going to Pasalacqua.

Between the Green Day songs sit contributions from the film's fictional band Analog Dogs, alongside The Paradox, Ultra Q and Mckenna Grace herself, so the whole thing plays like a mixtape passed around the back of a tour van.

It is a fond, loud tribute to more than three decades of three-chord sincerity, and a neat companion to the film for anyone who has ever slept on a venue floor.
