Bold, evocative, and deeply resonant, Persist is a celebration of resilience through music. The GRAMMY®-winning, genre-defying string quartet Ethel collaborates with flutist, composer, and producer Allison Loggins-Hull to present a powerful collection of newly commissioned works.
This album showcases a diverse group of early-career composers, each bringing a distinct voice to the theme of endurance and perseverance.
The project features compositions by Migiwa “Miggy” Miyajima, Xavier Muzik, Sam Wu, and Leilehua Lanzilotti, a 2022 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Loggins-Hull also contributes her own masterwork, Persist, the piece that gives the album its name. Each work reflects personal and collective struggles, crafting an experience that is both intimate and universal, blending classical tradition with contemporary innovation.
Marking the fifth installment of Ethel’s HomeBaked commissioning program, Persist amplifies historically underrepresented voices in modern classical music. Passionate, thought-provoking, and inspiring, this album is more than just a collection of compositions—it is a testament to the power of music to uplift, challenge, and endure.
