Artillery from Heaven is Contention doing 90s metallic hardcore exactly the way it was supposed to sound, ten tracks in under twenty-five minutes, pressed here on neon splatter vinyl.
The band builds directly on the heaviest lineage that decade produced, Arkangel's crushing weight, Day of Suffering's technical brutality, Undying's straight-edge conviction, and rather than update that formula for modern tastes, they lean fully into it, no metalcore polish softening the edges. This is bulldozing, uncompromising hardcore that treats brevity as a weapon, songs that hit fast and get out before overstaying any welcome.
I.C.B.M. detonates early with exactly the militaristic aggression its title promises. Ousted from Eden carries genuine theological weight underneath the blunt-force riffing, apocalyptic imagery treated with total sincerity. Lobotomite Bliss is the record's most punishing, breakdown-heavy stretch, and Nuclear Peace closes the album on its bleakest, most contradictory note, ending exactly as unresolved as the title suggests it should.
