Live in the UK is The Commoners letting their studio songs stretch out into the versions they were always meant to be, nine tracks pulled from Find a Better Way and Restless and reshaped for a room full of people.
The Toronto band spent the better part of a decade finding this lineup, Chris Medhurst's vocals and guitar, Ross Citrullo's lead guitar, Ben Spiller on bass, Adam Cannon on drums, often joined by organist Miles Evan Branagh, and their whole sound leans on a Southern-rock authenticity that owes as much to rural Ontario back roads as anything from below the Mason-Dixon line. This 2025 live record was released to coincide with a UK and European tour, and it captures exactly what studio versions of these songs were missing, extended intros, stretched-out solos, and outros that never had room to breathe on the original albums.
Devil Teasin' Me runs to nearly seven minutes here, the record's clearest showcase for how far the band lets a groove develop once the studio clock stops mattering. Restless carries genuine tension throughout its own extended runtime, and Find a Better Way closes the set on the band's most anthemic, crowd-ready note.
A band that's spent years touring earning the right to let these songs actually breathe. This is the version worth hearing.
