Clutch fire up the Doom Saloon once more for Wasted Lands, the Maryland band's fourteenth studio album and a record due in 2027 on their own Weathermaker Music label.

Written and recorded at their longtime base in Frederick, the album reunites the band with producer Gene 'Machine' Freeman for the first time since Psychic Warfare in 2015, and follows Sunrise on Slaughter Beach from 2022. Clutch remain one of the most dependable bands in heavy rock, with Neil Fallon's preacher-like delivery and the rhythm section of Jean-Paul Gaster and Dan Maines, alongside guitarist Tim Sult, still locked together after more than three decades.

Opener The Drifter Returns, shared ahead of the album, and the title track Wasted Lands set the stage for twelve songs. Titles like High Class Action Lawsuit and Colorado Fuel and Iron hint at the band's trademark blend of American folklore and tall-tale humour, the kind of storytelling Fallon has always delivered with a wink and a growl.

Clutch records are built for repeat plays and loud stereos, and Wasted Lands looks set to slot neatly into that long run of grooves. For a band this consistent, a reunion with a trusted producer on home turf is a very good sign of what is coming.
