Ten years on, Architects revisit All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us with a remastered anniversary edition of the 2016 album that became founding guitarist Tom Searle's last with the band.

Searle was the group's primary songwriter, and he died in 2016, only months after the record came out. Its preoccupation with mortality, faith and loss has only grown heavier since, and the album now stands as a document of a band pouring everything into what turned out to be a final chapter with its chief architect.

Recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg with producers Henrik Udd and Fredrik Nordström, the album pushed the band's metalcore into a bigger, more cinematic space, with crushing low end, electronic textures and choruses that hit like weather fronts.

"Nihilist" opens with a jolt of bleak fury, while "Gone with the Wind" and "A Match Made in Heaven" pair Sam Carter's ferocious delivery with hooks that stick long after the breakdowns fade. Closer "Memento Mori" stretches past eight minutes, a slow-building finale that leaves the room very quiet when it's done.

For many fans this remains the emotional cornerstone of the band's story, and a fresh remaster is a fitting way to mark a decade since it first landed.
