Twenty years on, Back To Black spins again as a limited zoetrope picture disc that animates as it spins, fitting for a voice that still feels alive.

Released in 2006, her second album paired her with producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, who wrapped her heartbreak in sixties girl-group grandeur and vintage soul. It became the UK's best-selling album of 2007 and carried her to five Grammy Awards at the 2008 ceremony, including Record of the Year for Rehab. In 2025 it was also selected for the US National Recording Registry.

Rehab is the swaggering, horn-stabbed refusal everyone knows, and You Know I'm No Good slinks in with a guilty grin. The title track is pure wall-of-sound tragedy, while Love Is A Losing Game is one of the most devastating ballads of its era, delivered with a restraint that cuts deeper than any big note ever could.

Her writing is blunt and often very funny, even when the wounds are fresh, and full of specific details that make every line land. On Ronson's tracks, the Dap-Kings bring a live, punchy snap that gives the whole record its vintage glow.

The zoetrope design adds a playful collector's twist, but the music is the reason this one never leaves the turntable for long.
