Thirty years on, Ace of Base's most ambitious album returns as a limited 30th Anniversary Edition of The Bridge, pressed on red double vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.

Following a debut that had made them one of the biggest pop acts on the planet was never going to be simple. Their 1995 answer was broader and more personal, and it stands as the only Ace of Base album with sizable writing, production and vocal contributions from all four members. Jonas Berggren and Ulf Ekberg each brought their own songs and collaborators, while Jenny and Linn Berggren wrote for the first time, widening the emotional range well beyond the hit-machine image.

The singles still sparkle. Beautiful Life is pure euphoric dance-pop, all bouncing piano and a chorus built for packed floors, while Lucky Love moves between breezy and bittersweet before returning later in a stripped-back acoustic version. Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry adds a touch of attitude to the sheen. Deeper cuts head into moodier, more introspective territory, with Denniz Pop and Max Martin among the producers.

This pressing carries the full seventeen-track European running order across four sides. Fans who wore out a copy of Happy Nation or The Sign will find it the natural next chapter, and the red discs look the part.
