Deftones' 'Around the Fur' builds on the raw intensity of their debut 'Adrenaline,' with sinister nuances added to their already aggressive sound. "My Own Summer (Shove It)" sets the tone with a blend of sinewy guitars and eerie whispers mixed with explosive crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavalera contributes guitar and vocals on "Headup," while "MX" features Chino Moreno trading vocals with Annalynn Cunningham in a scathing critique of rock star mentality. Moreno showcases his vocal range, from breathy and psychotic to hauntingly melodic, while guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy sound is muscular yet nimble. Moreno's otherworldly screams drive the album's ferocity, making it a relentless force. This LP version is pressed on 180g vinyl.
