Zach Bryan has never been one for brevity, and With Heaven On Top stretches to 25 tracks, 24 songs plus a spoken poem, pressed here across a 140 gram double LP.

He first mentioned the project in early 2025 as an EP, but it kept growing until it became his sixth studio album, written and produced entirely by Bryan himself. Released in 2026, it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, the second of his albums to reach the top.

The songs circle memory, regret and inheritance, the weight of the people who raised him and the man he is still trying to become, all delivered in the plainspoken voice that turned him into a phenomenon. His band fills out the picture with pedal steel, Dobro and fiddle threaded through the arrangements, while bursts of horns and strings open the sound up when a song calls for it.

"Plastic Cigarette" became the album's first single just a week after release, and "Say Why" followed it two months later. The closing title track brings the long running time to a fitting finish, the kind of ending you earn by staying for all four sides.

For anyone who likes their country written close to the bone, this is a lot of record in the best possible sense.
