Zach Bryan's DeAnn is where it all started: a raw, homemade debut that sounds like a late-night confession shared among friends.

Released in 2019 while Bryan was still serving on active duty in the US Navy, the album was recorded with friends in an Airbnb in Jacksonville, Florida, and dedicated to his late mother. Many of these songs had already found an audience on his YouTube channel before the record existed, and their plain-spoken honesty laid the foundation for everything that followed, from sold-out stadiums to a fanbase that hangs on every word.

There is barely any polish here, and that is exactly the point. Acoustic guitar, a weathered voice and the odd harmony carry songs like Letting Someone Go and Condemned, where the emotion sits right at the surface and nothing is dressed up to hide it. Snow drifts by with a quiet, wintry ache, and the closing Sweet DeAnn shares its name with the album, ending things on a gentle and deeply personal note.

On vinyl, DeAnn feels even more intimate, like the room it was made in. For anyone who came to Bryan through his bigger, later records, this is the essential first chapter, and a reminder of how much power a few chords and an honest song can hold.
