Moody indie rock and brooding romance meet on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), the 2010 companion to the third film, pressed across two colored LPs.
By the time Eclipse reached cinemas, the Twilight soundtracks had become event releases in their own right, introducing millions of fans to indie and alternative acts they might never have found otherwise. This third installment assembled another striking lineup, pairing established names with cult favorites to match the film's stormy love triangle.
Metric open with Eclipse (All Yours), a shimmering, slow-burning theme, before Muse unleash the grand, galloping Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever). Florence + The Machine bring pounding, gothic drama to Heavy In Your Arms, and Beck teams with Bat For Lashes on Let's Get Lost. Elsewhere, The Black Keys, The Dead Weather, Sia and Vampire Weekend add grit, swagger and melancholy to the mix.
Spread over two discs, the set gives each artist plenty of space, and it plays as a snapshot of the late-2000s indie boom as much as a movie souvenir. It holds up even for listeners who never saw the films.
