Like a long Italian summer pressed into grooves, the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack arrives here as a 180-gram double LP.
Assembled in 2017 for Luca Guadagnino's film, the collection mirrors the story's mix of restless youth and quiet longing. Early-1980s Italian pop and new wave sit beside classical piano, minimalist works by John Adams and Ryuichi Sakamoto, and three songs from Sufjan Stevens, creating a sequence that feels like flipping through a sun-faded photo album from a summer that never quite ends.
"Mystery of Love," which earned Stevens an Academy Award nomination, is a delicate, finger-picked ache, while "Visions of Gideon" scores the film's unforgettable final scene with devastating gentleness. The Psychedelic Furs' "Love My Way" brings a shot of jittery, synth-washed cool, and the Doveman remix of "Futile Devices" offers a hushed reworking that feels like a held breath.
Elsewhere, F.R. David, Giorgio Moroder and Franco Battiato capture the era's dancefloor glow, while Satie, Ravel and Bach add the quiet, sunlit calm of an afternoon spent reading in the shade.
For fans of the film it is a way back into that villa, and for everyone else it is one of the most beautifully curated soundtracks of its decade, a mixtape of heartbreak and heat.
