Stadium-sized and unapologetically loud, Live at Wembley 1995 catches Van Halen in London on the Balance tour, eight songs from the Sammy Hagar era on one LP.

By that point Hagar had been fronting the band for a decade, and Balance, released the same year, would turn out to be the final studio album from the lineup of Hagar, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony. The Wembley Stadium performance was broadcast by the BBC at the time, and it captures a band still playing with plenty of fire.

Two Balance songs open the set, with "The Seventh Seal" establishing a heavy, ominous mood and "Feelin'" stretching out with real weight. From there it swings into older favourites, including "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" from the David Lee Roth years and a guitar solo spotlight for Eddie, before "Right Now" brings the record home on a rousing note.

Michael Anthony's high harmonies, long a signature of the band's sound, ride on top of Alex's powerhouse drumming, while Eddie's playing has all the fluid, playful flair that made him a legend.

For collectors filling gaps in the Hagar-era catalogue, this is a compact, punchy snapshot of the band near the end of a remarkable chapter.
