Ten years after its surprise arrival, Tycho's Epoch returns as a 10 Year Anniversary Edition on blue and black vinyl, closing a chapter that still sounds wide open.

Released in 2016, Epoch completed the trilogy Scott Hansen began with Dive and continued with Awake, and it pushed the project further from bedroom electronica toward something closer to a live band. Hansen produced it himself, with Zac Brown on bass and guitar and Rory O'Connor's live drums giving the arrangements real physical kick. The album also earned Tycho a first Grammy nomination, for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

The record opens at full speed. Glider rides a propulsive beat and sunlit guitar figures, and Horizon keeps the momentum high with shimmering synths that seem to stretch toward the edge of the frame. The title track is darker and more insistent, while Division builds tension through layered rhythms before releasing it in a rush of melody. The closing stretch then lets the album exhale with shorter, gentler pieces that drift rather than drive.

Hansen also shapes Tycho's visual identity, and Epoch's bold artwork has always felt inseparable from its music. This anniversary pressing is a fine excuse to revisit the trilogy's most energetic instalment, and a strong place for newcomers to begin.
