Twisted Teens make it three albums in one year with The Holy Cross Tigers, the New Orleans duo's first record for Sub Pop, pressed on maroon vinyl.
The band had already put out Blame the Clown and Florida Water Blues in 2026 before signing to the Seattle label, and that prolific streak shows in how loose and alive these songs feel. This time the subject is heartbreak. The duo have framed it as their own Blood on the Tracks, and the comparison makes sense once the songs start piling up: memories of a relationship turned over and over until every detail glints.
"Stalks" kicks things off with ragged momentum, and lead single "When We First Met" looks back wistfully at the early days of a romance that has since gone sour. "Blue Rose" leans into the ache without losing the band's scrappy drive, and the album signs off with "Darker The Night Is The Brighter I See," a title that more or less sums up the whole mood.
Thirteen songs, no wasted motion and plenty of heart on the sleeve. For anyone who likes their rock and roll a little frayed at the edges, this is a fine place to meet a band with plenty to say.
