Three Days Grace channel pent-up pressure into Explosions, their seventh studio album, pressed here on limited orange vinyl.

Released in 2022 on RCA, it was produced by Howard Benson alongside the band. Writing began in 2020 and recording stretched through 2021, with the members cutting many of their parts separately in different studios, something they had never done before. Bassist Brad Walst described the album's theme as that feeling inside of being ready to explode, and the songs carry that tension from start to finish.

So Called Life opens the record with a defiant, hook-heavy blast and became another of the band's rock radio chart-toppers. Lifetime, dedicated to the people of Mayfield, Kentucky after the devastating 2021 tornado, balances its punch with real compassion. Neurotic brings in singer Lukas Rossi for a tense duet, and Someone to Talk To features the cellos of Finnish group Apocalyptica.

Matt Walst's vocals sit front and centre throughout, backed by Barry Stock's guitars and the tight rhythm section of Brad Walst and Neil Sanderson, all packed into a lean running time of under forty minutes.

For fans who have followed the band since the early 2000s, Explosions shows a group still writing big, cathartic rock songs, and the orange pressing adds a suitably fiery look.
