They Might Be Giants' odds-and-ends album finally gets the full vinyl treatment, with this deluxe edition spread across two clear purple 180-gram LPs.
My Murdered Remains first appeared in 2018, gathering songs from the band's revived Dial-A-Song project that did not land on I Like Fun or The Escape Team. John Flansburgh and John Linnell produced it with longtime collaborator Pat Dillett, and the title comes from a lyric in Mrs. Bluebeard, which was also a working title for I Like Fun. Earlier vinyl copies left its bonus companion, More Murdered Remains, as a download, and this set brings the two together on wax.
The Communists Have The Music opens the main album with typical TMBG mischief, and I've Been Seeing Things follows with the sort of catchy, slightly unsettling pop the Johns have made their trademark. Gudetama's Busy Days nods to the famously lazy cartoon egg, and Best Regrets closes the first record on a wistful note.
The second record digs deeper into the vault, with covers of songs by Jonathan Richman and The Records sitting alongside oddities, remixes and holiday cheer.
Funny, strange and stuffed with melody, this is a treat for fans who have followed the Johns down every rabbit hole.
