They Are Gutting a Body of Water fill four sides with fuzz, samples and sideways melody on KOOL FAITH / LOOSIES II, a sprawling 2026 mixtape pressed on double vinyl.
The Philadelphia project began as the solo outlet of Doug Dulgarian before growing into a full band, and its blend of shoegaze haze, electronic textures and sample-heavy collage has made it one of the most distinctive names in modern indie rock. Arriving after the 2025 album Lotto and the earlier loosies collection Swanlike, this release pairs KOOL FAITH with a second volume of odds and ends.
Rodman and Paint the Bride sit among the highlights, while Green Goblin and Town Crier show off the project's knack for melodies that surface through the noise like half-remembered dreams. Guest appearances pop up along the way, adding to the mixtape's restless, open-door feel.
The appeal is all in the texture: guitars smeared into walls of sound, drum loops that stumble and then lock in, and voices buried just deep enough in the mix that you lean closer to catch them.
