The Story So Far's I Want To Disappear comes back around on milky clear vinyl with a rainbow splatter, a bright-looking pressing for a record that's anything but sunny.
Released in 2024, the Walnut Creek band's fifth album was their first in six years, following Proper Dose. Parker Cannon and his bandmates came back sounding focused and fired up, with the pop-punk urgency of their early records sharpened by experience. The songs are compact and direct, rarely wasting a second, and the lyrics keep circling escape, self-doubt and the urge to vanish that gives the album its name.
Opener "All This Time" hits the ground running and never lets the momentum drop. "Letterman" pairs a big, chantable hook with Cannon's trademark gravelly bark, "Big Blind" is all nervy riffing and pounding drums, and "Watch You Go" shows how well the band balances melody and muscle. The guitars are bright and crunchy throughout, the rhythm section relentless, and the production keeps everything punchy without sanding off the edges.
For fans who grew up on Under Soil and Dirt, it's proof the band still has plenty to say a decade and more down the line. This splatter edition makes a striking addition to any pop-punk shelf.
