Supercharged lives up to its name, the 2024 Offspring album that pairs vintage SoCal punk urgency with big, polished hooks, here on limited blue vinyl as an indie exclusive.
The band's eleventh studio album reunited them with Bob Rock, who had produced their previous three, and it was the first to feature the group as a five-piece. Sessions stretched from 2022 into 2024 across studios in Huntington Beach, Maui and Vancouver, yet the finished record is compact and punchy, ten songs in a little over half an hour.
Lead single "Make It All Right" is classic Offspring, fast and melodic with Dexter Holland's unmistakable yelp riding the chorus. "Light It Up" brings snarling energy, "Come to Brazil" sounds tailor-made for festival crowds, and "Ok, But This Is the Last Time" adds a wry, self-aware edge.
Noodles keeps the guitars crunchy and bright, and the rhythm section drives everything with the kind of momentum that made Smash and Americana staples of the 1990s. Holland still knows when to pull back for a melodic lift, and when to slam straight into the next chorus.
Decades into their career, The Offspring still know how to write a refrain built for shouting back, and this blue pressing is a bright addition for longtime fans and newer converts.
