The Mars Volta's Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business captures the band on stage at their most feverish, a live companion to their 2025 album spread across two red vinyl LPs.

When Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López released Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos del Vacío in 2025, they previewed it by playing the whole thing live while opening for Deftones, before most people had heard a note. Those shows were devoted entirely to the new material, and fans were even invited to vote on which performances made the final cut of this record.

On stage the songs stretch, mutate and catch fire. "Mictlán" and "The Iron Rose" sit alongside medleys like "Voice In My Knives / Poseedora De Mi Sombra", which stitch pieces together into longer, restless suites, before the closing "Lucro Sucio" pulls everything into one final surge. Bixler-Zavala swoops from croon to howl while Rodríguez-López's guitar flickers between delicate filigree and pure static, with a percussion-heavy band keeping the rhythms shifting under their feet.

For a group that has always treated songs as living things, this is an ideal document of where they stand right now, captured in the room with the crowd. It plays like a fever dream you are happy not to wake up from.
